Registration is Now Open for Hillside’s NEW After-School Enrichment Program!
Hillside’s PTA is happy to announce that we are offering an After-School Enrichment Program for our K-3 students this winter! Registration is open for Chess and Acting , which will run on Tuesdays (starting January 30th), from 2:45pm-3:45pm, for six weeks.
All registrations will be done online and will close on January 23rd, at 12pm. Chess and Acting will run simultaneously, so please only register for one class per child.

Class Descriptions:
Chess – Learn how to play the most popular game ever invented!! Come play the game of strategy and problem solving.
Beginner students will learn:
- All the chess pieces and how they move
- Special moves like castling, en passant
- Key chess tactics such as Pins, Forks, Double Attacks, Skewers, Discovered Checks
- Basic Opening Theory and Defense Strategies.
Intermediate and Advanced Students will focus on Opening, Middlegame and Endgame Strategies. You will learn by analyzing famous chess games, solving checkmate puzzles and competing against classmates.
Acting – Do you like acting? Come develop your skills and confidence through improvisation and theater games. This unique workshop introduces young actors to voice projection, stage movement, and performance skills including acting and character development. No experience necessary. All you need is enthusiasm and a desire to perform and learn the skills that will land you the part!
